Residents of Sion village in Molo Constituency have raised alarm over a surge in livestock theft and burglary, accusing security agencies of laxity.
The concerns follow a recent incident where unknown assailants raided a homestead, stole a cow and allegedly slaughtered it near a police station.
“We are forced to lock ourselves in the house by 8pm… it’s like a curfew,” one resident said.
Another added, “They even slaughter cows near the police station, yet no arrests have been made.”
The affected homeowner, Bernard Rotich, said the family discovered remains of the animal a few metres from their home.
“We can no longer leave our livestock unguarded; we now share shelter with them,” he said.
Area Chief Evan Mageto, however, assured residents of intensified patrols.
“We will enhance security operations to ensure those responsible are brought to
book,” he said.
