NIGERIA: JAMB Extends Deadline for Acceptance of Admission Offers to September 30
By Ameenat Hamzat, Lagos, Nigeria
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has extended the deadline for candidates offered admission from 2021 to date to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers.
The new deadline is Wednesday, September 30, 2026, giving affected candidates an additional month to take action on their admission status.
The Board had earlier fixed Monday, August 31, 2026, as the deadline for candidates to indicate whether they wished to accept or reject admission offers made from 2021 to date.
JAMB said the extension represents the final opportunity for candidates with pending regular or CUIIA admission offers to take the necessary action.
Candidates who accept their offers will be able to proceed with printing and obtaining their admission letters.
Those who reject their offers will have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted”, allowing JAMB to update its records and ensure that its national admission data reflects their current status.
The Board advised candidates who are no longer studying at the institution where the previous admission was offered, or who are currently enrolled in a different programme, to accept the outstanding offer and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the admission where necessary.
Candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who still have an unaccepted previous admission offer may reject the outstanding offer and continue with their current programme.
JAMB also clarified that candidates who have received admission under the 2026 admission exercise but still have a previous admission offer pending should not be concerned about rejecting the earlier offer.
The Board said rejecting a previous admission offer will have no adverse effect on a candidate’s 2026 admission.
JAMB said the extension is intended to give affected candidates a final opportunity to clarify their admission status and enable the Board to maintain accurate and reliable national admission records.
The Board warned that there will be no further extension after September 30, 2026.
At the expiration of the deadline, all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically revert to “Not Admitted” status and remain so on JAMB’s records.
The Board urged all affected candidates to act immediately and warned that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period will render the offer invalid.
