A light aircraft went down in flames in the Kwachocha area of Malindi, Kenya on Friday.
The tragic incident unfolded near the Malindi-Mombasa Highway, leaving a trail of destruction and loss.
Eyewitness footage shared on social media showed the plane engulfed in fire, with smoke rising into the air as bystanders gathered at the scene.
Emergency responders, including firefighters and ambulances, were on-site to manage the aftermath of the crash.
Preliminary reports suggest there were no survivors on the aircraft, although the exact number of occupants remains unclear.
On the ground, two fatalities were confirmed: a man and a woman, believed to have been on a motorcycle.
The two reportedly lost their lives when the plane struck them as it attempted to make an emergency landing.
Their lifeless bodies were found on the roadside near the wreckage, with visible injuries caused by the impact.
A motorcycle, presumed to be theirs, lay nearby.
Additionally, the crash caused parts of nearby buildings to catch fire, including a new hotel under construction near the highway.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the cause of the accident, and investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the incident has caused significant traffic disruption on the busy highway as locals flocked to the site to witness the aftermath.
