Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with Operation DESERT SANITY V, have recorded fresh breakthroughs in counter-terrorism operations across Borno and Yobe States, leading to the arrest of suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics suppliers, a deserter soldier, and the disruption of supply networks sustaining insurgent activities.
Military authorities said the operations targeted fuel, food, and intelligence channels used by terrorist groups to sustain mobility and attacks.
In Benisheikh Market, troops arrested Girema Aliko (40), a suspected logistics supplier, while allegedly transporting 30 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
A security source said: “The suspect confessed to supplying fuel and other logistics to terrorist elements.”
In Maiduguri, troops arrested Mohammed Bulama (25) in Ngawom, Muna Garage, over alleged links to terrorist informants and supply networks.
Another source stated:
“Preliminary investigation confirmed his links with terrorist elements, and the suspect has indicated willingness to provide further intelligence.”
Troops also arrested a serving soldier, Private Umar Bema of 50 Task Force Battalion, who allegedly deserted his unit with a personal rifle.
Military sources confirmed: “His rifle and magazines have been recovered, while he remains in custody for further investigation and necessary military action.”
In Biu Local Government Area, troops arrested a suspected kidnapper linked to cattle rustling and wider criminal networks, while investigations reportedly uncovered connections between bandit groups and insurgent cells.
In Gubio axis, another suspected logistics supplier was intercepted while allegedly transporting food items meant for terrorist elements, further disrupting supply lines.
In Adamawa State, two suspected ISWAP members were arrested in collaboration with local hunters and reportedly confessed to involvement in attacks and abductions across Borno and Adamawa.
Troops also recorded a surrender in Kukawa axis, where a fleeing insurgent reportedly gave himself up with two children following sustained military pressure.
Military authorities said operations in Damboa axis led to the discovery of abandoned terrorist enclaves, with arms and ammunition recovered, including rocket-propelled grenade bombs and PKT rounds.
The Theatre Command said 13 detainees have been handed over to relevant authorities for investigation and prosecution.
Authorities added that ongoing operations continue to degrade terrorist logistics and operational capacity across the region.
