The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure of some roads ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled for Monday, April 6, 2026.
The disclosure, made through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, said the measure is to ensure smooth and safe conduct of the event.
“All road closures will commence from 7:00 a.m.”
The affected roads include King George V Road at the junction by Mobil Filling Station, Onikan Roundabout inbound to TBS, Flagstaff House inbound to TBS, Outer Marina by State House inbound to TBS, Campbell Street by the Old Defence Building, and Catholic Mission Street by St. Nicholas Church.
Motorists and residents have been advised to plan their movements accordingly and use alternative routes during the period.
The State Government expressed regret over any inconvenience caused and appreciated the cooperation of the public.
The Lagos Fanti Carnival is one of West Africa’s most distinctive cultural celebrations, a living heritage event rooted in the history of Afro-Brazilian returnee communities on Lagos Island.
