NIGERIA: Kano APC Reaffirms Support For Tinubu’s Re-election Bid
By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has strongly debunked claims that the party has withdrawn its support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid in 2027.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the State Publicity Secretary, Auwalu Abdullahi, the Kano APC described the allegation as false, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to create confusion and tarnish the image of the party.
The statement was reacting to a purported announcement by a group called Arewa APC Forum, Kano State Chapter, which claimed the party in the state had pulled its backing for the President.
The APC stressed that no recognised or constitutionally recognised organ of the party has taken any such decision. It added that the Kano State Chapter remains fully committed to supporting President Tinubu and his administration.
“The APC in Kano is aware of attempts by certain individuals and faceless groups to create confusion and disunity within the party,” the statement read.
“We wish to state categorically that this so-called forum is not known to the party structure and does not represent the views of APC members in Kano State,” it added.
The party further reaffirmed its confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, noting that his administration is focused on delivering good governance, economic reforms, and national development.
The Kano APC, under the leadership of Umar Doguwa, urged party members and the general public to disregard the statement in its entirety, describing it as the handiwork of mischief-makers bent on causing unnecessary tension.
It added that the so-called signatory of the purported withdrawal is faceless and not a stakeholder of the party at any level in Kano State.
The statement concluded by reiterating the party’s unity and unwavering support for President Tinubu’s vision
for a better Nigeria.
