By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has urged displaced persons from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area to remain resilient and hopeful, assuring them that government and security agencies are intensifying efforts to restore peace and enable their safe return home.
The Governor made the call during his second visit to Pulka on Saturday, where hundreds of Ngoshe residents have taken refuge following a recent attack on their community by insurgents.
Accompanied by top government officials, Zulum distributed essential humanitarian relief materials, including food items, non-food supplies, and other necessities, to both the displaced persons and members of the host community in Pulka.
This marks the second time the governor has visited the displaced Ngoshe residents in recent weeks.
His initial trip came shortly after the attack, during which he sympathized with the victims, reassured them of the state government’s unwavering commitment to securing the release of abducted persons, and pledged sustained support until normalcy is fully restored.
In Pulka, Governor Zulum held interactive sessions with victims, community leaders, and key stakeholders, encouraging unity, patience, and collective resolve amid the challenges.
He reiterated that ongoing military operations and multi-agency collaboration are steadily degrading insurgent threats in Gwoza and surrounding areas, paving the way for displaced families to return and rebuild their lives.
The governor’s visits underscore his administration’s people-centered approach to addressing the humanitarian crisis in Borno, combining immediate relief with long-term security and stabilization strategies to bring lasting peace to vulnera
ble communities.
