The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested former Chief Executive Officer for the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF), Humphrey Mdyetseni, on allegations of abuse of public office.
Mdyetseni is suspected to have misused his position during his tenure at NEEF, with the charges linked to decisions and actions he allegedly took while serving as head of the institution.
Confirming the development, ACB Senior Public Relations Officer Jacqueline Ngongonda said the suspect is currently being held in police custody pending court proceedings.
“He has been arrested on allegations of misuse of public office relating to decisions and actions taken while he was in office,” said Ngongonda.
She added that Mdyetseni is expected to appear before court on Thursday, April 2, 2026, where he will formally be charged.
The arrest comes as the ACB continues to intensify its crackdown on corruption and abuse of office in public institutions, a move authorities say is aimed at promoting accountability and transparency in the management of publi
c resources.
