KENYA: ‘Enough Is Enough!’ LSK Demands Justice for Slain Lawyers, Announces Nationwide Protest
By Moses Punyuah
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has demanded an urgent probe into the mysterious deaths of two advocates and announced a nationwide Advocates’ March for Justice on Friday, July 10, to honour the slain lawyers.
LSK President Charles Kanjama called for a multi-agency investigation into the deaths of Esther Wairimu Keige, a Kenya Forest Service legal manager, and advocate Edward Kariuki Muthee, warning that the killings pose a serious threat to the legal profession.
“These deaths amount to attacks on the legal profession and threaten the security of all advocates,” said Kanjama.
The Society is also seeking enhanced security for advocates in public service and a forensic audit of contested land matters handled by the Kenya Forest Service to establish whether Keige’s death was linked to her official duties.
