Popular Nollywood actor and self-proclaimed cleric, Yul Edochie, has attributed the increasing rate of untimely deaths in Nigeria to the abandonment of traditional African practices in favor of Western lifestyles.
Edochie, who made the statement in a recent Instagram post, emphasized that reconnecting with ancestral customs and spiritual guidelines could help reduce premature deaths.
He urged Nigerians to return to their roots, describing traditional spirituality as a vital tool for enlightenment and protection.
He wrote: “untimely death has become rampant in our society. It’s happening because the majority of us have abandoned our traditional ways and embraced the ways of the white man,”
Edochie further noted; “Go home and embrace our traditional ways. As a traditionalist, you’ll be fully enlightened on the dos and don’ts of spirituality. If you keep to it judiciously, untimely death will never be your portion.”
The actor, known for his controversial remarks in recent years, has increasingly used his platform to advocate for traditional African beliefs, claiming he received divine instruction to lead people back to their indigenous spiritual paths.
