MALAWI: South African Court Orders Sale Of Prophet Bushiri’s R50 Million Jet
By Smile Hamilton, Malawi
Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, a prominent figure in Malawi, has expressed his discontent with the South African government’s handling of his case. A South African court has granted the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) permission to sell his R50 million jet, which is approximately 4.4 billion Malawi Kwacha.
The jet was seized by the NPA in 2020, and Bushiri, along with his wife Mary, are facing charges related to fraud and money laundering. The NPA claims that Bushiri acquired the jet using proceeds from illicit activities. The sale of the jet is expected to help compensate victims of Bushiri’s alleged crimes.
In a Facebook post, Bushiri accused the South African government and its courts of being biased against him. He claimed that some of the charges against him had been dropped in Malawi due to lack of evidence. Bushiri believes that the government’s actions are a form of harassment and that he is being unfairly targeted.
Bushiri also alleged that some officials from the NPA and the South African police have been soliciting bribes from him in exchange for dropping the charges. He has vowed not to give in to their demands, even if it means delaying the sale of the jet.
The case has sparked controversy, with many questioning the motives behind the South African government’s actions. Bushiri remains resolute, stating that he will continue to fight for justice and that he is confident that the truth will ultimately prevail.
