The Nigeria Police Force has intensified its efforts to curb organized crime and ensure national security, leading to the rescue of 13 trafficked victims in Kaduna State and three kidnapped victims in Ogun State.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, the crackdown aligns with the Inspector-General of Police’s (IGP) 2025 action plan to combat human trafficking, kidnapping, and other crimes against persons.
Police operatives attached to the Kaduna State Command, acting on intelligence, intercepted an unmarked vehicle transporting 13 victims to Oyo State on January 31.
Three suspects: Samson Peter (25), Haruna Duniya (45), and Abdulazaq Olawole (58), were arrested, and investigations are ongoing.
In a separate operation, officers of the Ogun State Command stormed a kidnapper’s hideout on January 29, successfully rescuing three victims abducted four days earlier.
The criminals engaged the police in a gun battle, leading to the neutralization of five gang members. Security forces recovered arms, ammunition, three mobile phones, N5.2 million in cash, and the victims’ vehicles.
Commending the operatives, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun praised their bravery and commitment to duty.
He reaffirmed the force’s dedication to tackling security threats and restoring public confidence in law enforcement.
