Somalia, Nigeria, Kenya Ranking Top Among African Countries With Highest Number Of Deportees In The US Immigration Crackdown – ICE

By Lisbeth Micheni, Kenya
The United States (U.S) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has intensified its immigration crackdown, targeting over 1.4 million undocumented individuals from 187 countries for deportation.
Among those affected, 1,282 Kenyans have been identified, placing Kenya among the top African nations with the highest number of deportees.
Somalia leads the list with 4,090 deportees, followed by Nigeria (3,690), Ethiopia (1,713), and Kenya (1,282). Other African countries affected include:
Democratic Republic of Congo – 795 deportees
Niger – 642 deportees
Zimbabwe – 545 deportees
Burundi – 462 deportees
Uganda – 393 deportees
Rwanda – 338 deportees
Tanzania – 301 deportees
Zambia – 174 deportees
South Sudan – 136 deportees and Djibouti – 29 deportees.
ICE has emphasised that those being removed have either violated immigration laws or committed offenses that warrant deportation.
The agency insists that all operations follow due process and legal procedures.
The crackdown is part of broader immigration enforcement measures that have sparked concerns among immigrant communities.
Many undocumented individuals now face an uncertain future as they await deportation proceedings.
Legal experts and human rights organisations are urging affected persons to seek legal counsel and explore possible relief options.
With the U.S. government tightening its stance on illegal immigration, the number of deportations is expected to rise in the coming months.
Kenya, along with other African nations, continues to see a growing number of its citizens affected by these policies.
