The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The forum is a gathering of global leaders, business executives, and development partners.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, on Monday.
It was stated that, during the forum, Shettima will engage in high-level bilateral meetings and strategic discussions that’s targeted at boosting Nigeria’s economic prospects and tackling global challenges.
Nkwocha also stated the highlights of his itinerary to be a workshop organised by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in partnership with the WEF, titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets.”
This workshop is said to explore strategies to increase capital inflow into Africa, which in turn promote inclusive growth and resilience across the continent.
He further stated that Shettima will be part of the launch of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, a project driven by AfDB and other international partners to foster public-private partnerships and attract investments into emerging markets across the continent.
Some key events the vice president will attend include; Co-chairing a forum: “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa” at the Pischa Congress Centre, focusing on leveraging private sector innovation to implement the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol adopted in January 2024.
Participating as a panelist: “Global Risks 2025” at the Aspen 2 Congress Centre, where he’d discuss pressing geopolitical, technological, and environmental threats.
The Vice President will also be seen at the Crystal Awards dinner; which is an exclusive event for heads of state, senior officials, and global leaders at Kurpark Village, Eiger.
Meanwhile, Shettima is accompanied by key government officials, including Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole,and the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Aisha Rimi.
The Vice President is scheduled to return to Abuja after concluding his engagements in Davos.
