NIGERIA: One Killed As Violence Erupts At APC House of Reps Primary In Plateau

One person was shot dead on Saturday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the House of Representatives in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The victim, identified as Sani Abdullahi, a resident of Kasuwan Ali community, was killed at the primary venue following a violent clash between protesting youths and security personnel.
According to eyewitnesses, trouble started when some APC members protested the delay in the commencement of the exercise, which was scheduled for Saturday morning. The delay was caused by the absence of returning officers.
As tension rose, some youths blocked the road to prevent government officials from leaving the venue. Security operatives moved in to disperse the crowd, leading to a confrontation during which stones were thrown at the officers.
In the process, security personnel fired shots, and a stray bullet hit Abdullahi, killing him on the spot.
The incident caused panic and confusion at the scene, with residents condemning the killing and calling for a thorough investigation by relevant authorities to bring the perpetrator
