NIGERIA: Kaduna Government Reaffirms Support For Cultural Heritage At Kenyi Festival

The Kaduna State Government has reiterated its commitment to promoting cultural heritage and grassroots development as Governor Uba Sani was represented at the 2026 Nom Zhire Cultural Celebration, also known as Kenyi Day, held in Kagarko Local Government Area.
The governor was represented by the Commissioner, Barrister Gloria Ibrahim, at the event which brought together members of the Zhire community to celebrate their cultural identity and foster unity.
Themed “Celebrating Our Roots, Shaping Zhire Future,” the festival served as a platform for cultural expression, community engagement, and discussions around development.
Delivering the governor’s message, the commissioner highlighted the role of cultural festivals in preserving traditions while driving socio-economic growth and youth empowerment.
She said: “Cultural festivals like Kenyi Day serve not only as platforms for celebrating tradition but also as avenues for community engagement, youth empowerment, and local economic growth.”
The state government also reaffirmed its dedication to initiatives that promote cultural preservation, unity, and inclusive development across communities.
The commissioner noted: “The Kaduna State Government remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote cultural heritage, grassroots development, and youth inclusion.”
The commissioner further commended the people of Kenyi and the wider Kagarko community for their peaceful coexistence and strong
sense of unity.
