The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the outcome of the bye-elections and re-run elections conducted across the country on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
According to the Commission, the exercise covered two senatorial districts, five federal constituencies and nine state assembly constituencies.
Declarations and returns were made in the two senatorial districts, the five federal constituencies and eight of the state assembly constituencies.
INEC said despite security challenges, elections held in Kaura Namoda South State Constituency in Zamfara State. However, the Returning Officer could not make a declaration due to violence in five polling units across two wards.
A total of 3,572 voters were registered in the affected polling units, with 3,265 Permanent Voter Cards collected. The margin of lead in the election was 1,662 votes.
Citing provisions of the Electoral Act, INEC ruled that fresh elections must be conducted in the affected polling units to determine a winner.
The Commission has fixed Thursday, August 21, 2025 for the supplementary election in those areas.
INEC also confirmed that two court-ordered re-run elections were successfully concluded in Enugu and Kano States.
In Enugu South 1 State Constituency, Bright Emeka Ngene of the Labour Party was declared winner.

In Ghari/Tsanyawa State Constituency of Kano State, Ya’u Garba Gwarmai of the All Progressives Congress emerged victorious.
The Commission further announced that Certificates of Return will be presented to senators-elect for Anambra South and Edo Central, as well as members-elect for five federal constituencies, at its national headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 3 pm.

For the state assembly elections, Certificates of Return will be issued by the Resident Electoral Commissioners in respective state offices on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11 am.
INEC assured Nigerians that it will continue to provide regular updates on its activities.
