The Federal Government has opened applications for the second cohort of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme, offering stipends and practical skills training to Nigerian youth.
“The programme is a strategic intervention aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, said.
This was contained in a press release issued by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade, on Monday.
According to the ministry, the programme is designed to equip young Nigerians with practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and national development.
Participants will undergo either six-month or one-year hands-on training in accredited centres across all states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The programme offers 6-month and 1-year hands-on training… with participants receiving a monthly stipend of ₦22,500 and nationally recognised certification upon completion,” the statement said.
The training will cover high-demand sectors, including ICT, construction, agriculture, automotive technology, creative media, fashion, cosmetology, tourism, catering, and leather works.
The ministry also disclosed that it is partnering with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism to expand opportunities in the creative and cultural industries.
To ensure compliance and accountability, attendance will be tracked using biometric systems, with stipends tied to participation.
“Applicants must provide their NIN and BVN during registration via the official portal,” the ministry added.
The Federal Government encouraged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the programme to acquire market-relevant skills and improve
economic productivity.
