NIGERIA: Bauchi Governor Distributes Vehicles to Emirs, District Heads to Boost Grassroots Governance

Bauchi State Governor has distributed official vehicles to emirs and district heads across the state, describing the move as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots governance and deepen community engagement.
“I have distributed official vehicles to emirs and district heads across Bauchi State as part of my administration’s deliberate effort to strengthen grassroots governance and deepen community engagement,” the governor said.
This was announced by the governor on his personal page on X, formerly Twitter.
According to him, the vehicles were presented at the Government House to 14 newly appointed emirs and over 100 district heads to improve their effectiveness in their respective domains.
He explained that the initiative is aimed at enhancing their mobility and expanding their reach in carrying out leadership responsibilities.
“I made it clear that this initiative is aimed at enhancing their mobility, expanding their reach, and enabling them to carry out their responsibilities more effectively,” he said.
The governor added that the support would be extended across both long-established and newly created emirates, chiefdoms, and districts in the state.
He also stressed the importance of collaboration between government and traditional institutions in promoting peace and stability.
“I urged our traditional rulers to remain non-partisan, uphold the highest standards of integrity, and stay dedicated to their duties,” he said.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Isa Babayo Tilde, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to working closely with traditional institutions, noting their role in maintaining peace and mobilising communities.
In his response, the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, expressed appreciation for the gesture and assured that the vehicles would be used responsibly for the benefit of the people.
