NIGERIA: Sowore Accuses Federal High Court Of Dehumanizing Lawyers, Litigants
By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has strongly criticised the Federal High Court in Abuja, describing it as a “centre for the dehumanization of lawyers and litigants.”
In a statement on Monday, Sowore alleged that court security personnel physically assaulted one of his lawyers for insisting that he and his team be allowed entry into the court premises to attend to their cases.
The incident is believed to be connected to the ongoing case involving popular blogger Justice Mark Chidiebere, also known as Justice Crack, whose bail hearing has attracted significant public attention and protests.
Sowore expressed deep frustration over the development, stating that such actions by court officials undermine access to justice and the rule of law.
“Nigeria is finished!” he declared in his reaction to the alleged assault.
The development has sparked outrage among activists and legal practitioners, with many calling for an immediate investigation into the conduct of court securi
ty personnel.
