Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN, has confirmed that he has been officially invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a brief statement posted on his verified social media handle on Friday, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria described himself as “a law-abiding and patriotic citizen” and reaffirmed his readiness to honour the invitation.
Malami, who served as AGF throughout President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight-year administration, said he fully supports the principles of accountability and transparency in public service, values he said he has always championed.
He promised to keep Nigerians updated on further developments “in the spirit of transparency and accountability.”
The EFCC is yet to disclose the specific reasons for the invitation, but sources say it is connected to ongoing investigations into financial transactions during Malami’s tenure as the nation’s chief law officer.
