The Lagos State Police Command has arrested five suspected members of the Aye Confraternity and recovered weapons, suspected hard drugs, military camouflage, electronic devices and other items during an intelligence-led operation in Lagos.
Police said two suspects, Emmanuel John, 24, and David Godwin, 28, were initially intercepted in a Toyota Camry during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Ago/Festac Bridge axis.
According to the Command, “A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of substances suspected to be hard drugs. During preliminary interrogation, both suspects confessed to being members of the Aye Confraternity.”
Further investigation led to the arrest of three additional suspects identified as Samuel Owubokiri, Adetona Seyi and David Chigozie.
Police recovered military camouflage, two machetes, one battle axe, one knife, 500 SIM cards, five mobile phones, five laptops, charms and substances suspected to be hard drugs from the suspects.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to tackling cultism and violent crimes across the state and urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to support crime prevention.
