NIGERIA: EFCC Declares Ex-Humanitarian Affairs Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq Wanted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over allegations of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and diversion of public funds.
The anti-graft agency published the wanted notice on its official website on Saturday.
According to the EFCC, Farouq, 52, hails from Zamfara State. Her last known address is EN 008, Okpo River, off Agulu Street, Maitama, Abuja.
The notice, signed by the commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, urged members of the public with information about her whereabouts to immediately contact the EFCC.
“The public is hereby notified that Sadiya Umar Farouq, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in an alleged case of Criminal Conspiracy, Abuse of Office, Diversion of Public Funds,” the statement read.
The EFCC listed several contact points, including its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, and Abuja. It also provided a hotline (08093322644), email (info@efcc.gov.ng), and encouraged reports to the nearest police station.
Sadiya Umar Farouq served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development from 2019 to 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
