NIGERIA: Army Arrests Blogger Justice Crack Over Soldiers’ Welfare Video
By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
The Nigerian Army has arrested popular blogger and social media influencer, Justice Mark Chidiebere, also known as Justice Crack.
He was arrested for an alleged role in a social media post concerning soldiers’ feeding and welfare.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Army said the influencer was picked up alongside some soldiers after a video he posted drew attention to complaints about their welfare.
According to the Army, while the matter is being investigated for breach of the Armed Forces’ Social Media Policy and spreading misinformation, preliminary findings revealed that Justice Chidiebere was inciting the soldiers and engaged in chats that bordered on subversion.
The statement noted that such actions by a civilian towards serving personnel pose serious implications for military discipline and national security.
While the affected soldiers remain in military custody, Justice Chidiebere has been handed over to the relevant civil authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to the rule of law and assured that it will continue to collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure just
ice is served.
