MALAWI: Man Arrested in Chiradzulu for Allegedly Cultivating Cannabis

A 48-year-old man, identified as Ali Chilomo, is in police custody in Chiradzulu District for allegedly cultivating cannabis without a license in his garden.
Chiradzulu Police spokesperson Sergeant Hubert Mwangoka told Zodiak Online on Tuesday that the arrest follows a tip-off from members of the public regarding the suspect’s activities.
“Police received information from well-wishers about the suspect’s involvement in illegal cultivation of cannabis, which led to the operation,” said Mwangoka.
According to police, officers uprooted 90 cannabis plants from the suspect’s garden during the operation.
The police further said the plants would be sent to Bvumbwe Research Station in Thyolo District for examination.
