MALAWI: Bushiri Orders Fast-Tracking of House Project for Crisford Chayera
By Smile Hamilton
Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has directed officials at the Shepherd Bushiri Foundation (SBF) to expedite the process of constructing a house for Crisford Chayera amid growing public debate over the pledge.
The development follows reports circulating on social media alleging that Bushiri had failed to fulfill his promise to provide a house for Chayera, prompting widespread discussion among members of the public.
However, in a statement, SBF said it has received a letter from Chayera distancing himself from claims being circulated online regarding the matter.
According to the foundation, Chayera stated that the messages and comments attributed to him on social media were not authored by him and did not originate from him.
“The statements being circulated on social media did not come from me, and I am not the author of the message in question,” Chayera is quoted as saying in the letter.
SBF’s Head of Communications, Aubrey Kusakala, said the foundation remains committed to its charitable work and has moved to ensure that the housing project for Chayera progresses without unnecessary delays.
Kusakala added that the foundation continues to implement various humanitarian initiatives across the country, including the construction of houses for families affected by Cyclone Freddy.
