KENYA: Pastor Jailed 15 Years for Rape of Vulnerable Survivor

A court in Kitui County has sentenced a pastor to 15 years in prison for raping a girl who had sought refuge in a church after surviving an earlier assault.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Justus Mutinda Mbuvi committed the offence after the victim, already traumatised and injured, sought safety at the church.

Prosecution Counsel Njihia told the court that the accused later accompanied the victim to hospital under the guise of offering help.

“The survivor informed the clinician of the ordeal, which led to the arrest of the accused,” the prosecution stated.

The prosecution presented three witnesses, successfully securing a conviction in

the case.
