Kenya Kwanza leaders have urged President William Ruto to identify and remove alleged State House “moles” accused of leaking confidential government information to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, warning that such breaches pose a threat to national security.
Speaking in Shinyalu, Kakamega County, leaders led by Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka and Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula praised the President’s State of the Nation address but expressed concern over Gachagua’s claims that he had prior knowledge of its contents.
“Those leaking confidential information from State House must be dealt with because they pose a serious national security risk,” the leaders said.
Their remarks came after Gachagua claimed he had been tipped off by insiders at State House about President Ruto’s planned address, including the launch of a post-Vision 2030 national development blueprint.
“People working inside State House regularly share confidential information about the President’s plans with me,” claimed Gachagua.
President Ruto later unveiled plans for a National Conversation on Kenya’s Future Beyond Vision 2030, set to begin on August 12, describing it as the country’s most significant public participation exercise since the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution.
