SOUTH SUDAN: Russia To Open Embassy In South Sudan’s Capital Juba, In September

The Russian Federation is set to open its embassy in the Republic of South Sudan between September and October, according to an announcement made by South Sudan’s Ambassador to Russia, Chol Tong Mayay, on Tuesday.
This was disclosed during a farewell meeting with an ICT delegation visiting Saint Petersburg for the Russia International Economic Forum (SPIEF’25).
Ambassador Chol Tong, who has an academic background in Engineering from Russia, encouraged the South Sudanese government to engage in meaningful business relations with Russia, emphasizing that it is a reliable partner for the nation.
He urged Russian companies to explore investment opportunities in South Sudan.
In addition to the embassy news, Ambassador Chol revealed that Russia has significantly increased its scholarship offerings to South Sudan this year from five to 25 scholarships.
Furthermore, he mentioned that several agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed between Russia and South Sudan between May and June this year.
These agreements aim to facilitate mineral extraction and petroleum exploration in South Sudan.
Ambassador Chol added that a delegation from NilePet is currently in Moscow, with potential negotiations underway with Rosneft, a major Russian oil company.
