Hamas Urges Trump Administration To End Gaza Conflict Following 2024 U.S. Election Victory

Following the victory of Donald Trump in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, the Palestinian militant group Hamas has issued a statement calling for the incoming U.S. administration to address the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the West Bank.
The statement, released on Wednesday, expressed hope that Trump’s administration would “work seriously to stop the war.”
Reports indicate that Trump recently urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to conclude military actions in the region before his inauguration on January 20.
In response, Hamas stated that Trump’s leadership should heed “the voices that have been raised by the U.S. public for more than a year regarding the Zionist aggression on the Gaza Strip.”
Hamas called on the incoming administration to cease what it termed a “war of genocide and aggression” against Palestinians and to halt military and political support for Israel.
The group also urged recognition of Palestinian rights to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Echoing the official statement, Hamas Political Bureau spokesman Basem Naim remarked that while Trump’s election is an internal matter for the United States, Palestinians seek immediate steps toward peace and autonomy.
Naim called for an end to what he described as “blind support” for Israel, which he argued threatens regional stability and Palestinian aspirations.
