At a press briefing held at the Lagos state Ministry of Justice, Alausa, the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), has confirmed that the toxicology and forensic reports on the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad, have been received from the United States.
The press conference was part of activities to mark his first year in office, ahead of an upcoming meeting with key stakeholders.
He noted that the autopsy report is now in the possession of the state pathologist and the coroner magistrate in charge of the case.
Speaking on the delays in the investigation, Pedro explained that these were due to the time needed for forensic processes. He noted, “The delay is a result of the time it takes for thorough investigations, especially in cases like this.”
He further highlighted the importance of forensic analysis and toxicology in ensuring cases brought to court are backed by solid evidence, stating that a thorough investigation is critical for securing convictions.
Pedro also clarified that the toxicology tests had to be done in the United States because the Lagos DNA and Forensic Centre was destroyed during the #EndSARS protests in October 2020.
