NIGERIA: Tinubu Congratulates Oyebanji On Re Election, Hails Peaceful Ekiti Governorship Poll

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, on his victory in Saturday’s governorship election, describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of the governor’s performance and leadership by the people of the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the election and for expressing confidence in Governor Oyebanji through the ballot.
Tinubu also commended security agencies for maintaining law and order during the exercise, noting that their professionalism contributed to the peaceful conduct of the election.
The President called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to sustain its efforts in delivering peaceful, free, fair and credible elections as the country prepares for the Osun State governorship election in August and the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, Oyebanji’s victory marks a historic milestone, making him the first governor in the history of Ekiti State to secure back to back re election.
Tinubu observed that the governor’s first term recorded notable achievements in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare and rural development under the BAO agenda, adding that the renewed mandate reflects the people’s confidence in continuity, stability and people centred governance.
The President urged Governor Oyebanji to be magnanimous in victory by embracing all segments of the state as he begins another term in office and consolidates on the gains of his administration.
He also commended the other contestants in the election for participating in the democratic process and encouraged them to support the governor in advancing the development of Ekiti State.
Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working closely with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more democratic dividends and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.
The President prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he continues to serve the people of Ekiti State.
