The Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima Mausoleum has officially been unveiled at Nsipe in Ntcheu District, marking another significant milestone in honouring the legacy of the late former Vice President.
Following the unveiling and dedication ceremony, family members, senior government officials, and other dignitaries laid wreaths at the mausoleum in remembrance of Dr. Chilima and the nine others who died alongside him.
The mausoleum is located just a stone’s throw from Nsipe Catholic Ground, where a memorial Mass was held earlier today to commemorate the second anniversary of the tragic plane crash.
Hundreds of people from different parts of the country and from all walks of life gathered at Nsipe to pay their respects and celebrate the life and contributions of the former vice president.
Dr. Chilima died on June 10, 2024, when a military aircraft carried him and nine others crashed in Chikangawa Forest in Mzimba District.
The unveiling of the mausoleum is expected to serve as a lasting symbol of remembrance for a leader widely admired for his commitment to public service and national development.
As mourners continued to visit the site, many described the mausoleum as a fitting tribute to a man whose leadership and vision left a lasting impact on Malawi.
