The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) has condemned the invasion of All Saints Cathedral by suspected goons who disrupted a post-budget dialogue forum, describing the incident as a shameful attack on a place of worship and democratic engagement.
The attackers reportedly forced their way into the church compound, assaulted participants, and destroyed conference materials before police intervened and arrested one suspect.
NCCK has now challenged the Inspector General of Police to identify and prosecute those behind the attack, while also demanding action against a government official allegedly linked to the disruption.
“This was a blatant and despicable desecration of a sacred place of worship,” NCCK said.
The council further warned that the attack raises serious concerns about the protection of constitutional rights, including citizens’ right to access information and participate in public discourse.
