MALAWI: Government to Roll Out One-Stop Digital Services Platform for Citizens
by Smile Hamilton Malawi
The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Shadric Namalomba, has announced that government is planning to introduce a one-stop digital government platform that will allow citizens to access multiple public services from a single online portal.
The platform will enable Malawians to apply for passports, register businesses, and make tax payments without physically visiting different government offices, as part of efforts to modernize public service delivery.
Namalomba made the announcement while in Shenzhen City, China, where he is holding discussions with officials from Huawei on a proposed 180 million US dollar national ICT investment plan expected to run over the next four years.
“We are working on a single digital government portal that will integrate all essential public services in one place for the convenience of our citizens,” Namalomba said.
He further explained that the broader ICT plan will also support the rollout of high-speed national network connectivity across all 28 districts, aiming to improve access to digital services nationwide.
“The goal is to ensure that government services are efficient, transparent, and available without interruption to every Malawian, regardless of where they are located,” he added.
