KENYA: CS Ruku Puts Civil Servants on Notice Over Lateness and Poor Service Delivery

Geoffrey Ruku has expressed disappointment over poor attendance by public servants following an impromptu visit to regional government offices in Garissa.
The Public Service Cabinet Secretary said only police officers and one official at the regional commissioner’s office had reported to work on time, leaving members of the public stranded outside seeking services.
“As a minister for public service, I am very disappointed this morning. Government offices that are supposed to open at 7:30am were still closed,” Ruku said.
The CS noted that despite the government improving salaries and allowances for civil servants, some officers were failing to reciprocate through efficient service delivery.
“Kenyans deserve excellent customer service because through their taxes is where we get our salaries,” he added.
Ruku warned that disciplinary action would be taken against officers who fail to report to work on time, saying public servants must remain committed to servi
