A United Nations report has revealed that personnel under the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti were involved in four confirmed cases of sexual exploitation and abuse.
The report by the UN Secretary-General indicates that the cases are part of a wider pattern, with 568 victims recorded across UN operations last year, including 158 children.
The UN described the incidents as “a fundamental betrayal of the trust placed in the United Nations and its partners.”
Investigations into the cases are ongoing, with the UN working alongside Kenya’s authorities to establish responsibility and take appropriate
action.
