Organisers of Miss Teen Malawi are set to host auditions for the inaugural beauty pageant tomorrow, marking a significant milestone in the country’s pageantry industry.
Miss Teen Malawi Director Chimwemwe Ngugi Buleya confirmed that the auditions will take place at Khitchini Hub in Lilongwe city centre, where young girls from across the country are expected to participate.
Buleya said the pageant is targeting girls aged between 15 and 19, with a strong focus on addressing social issues affecting young people.
“Miss Teen Malawi 2026 will be advocating against teenage pregnancy, which is on the rise in the country,” she said.
She further emphasized inclusivity in the selection process, stating that “everyone is free to audition, and there is no fee,” a move aimed at giving equal opportunity to all interested participants regardless of their background.
The initiative comes at a time when stakeholders are calling for more youth-driven platforms to raise awareness on critical issues affecting adolescents, particularly girls.
This will be the first time Malawi hosts a Miss Teen pageant, with organisers expressing optimism that it will provide a platform for young girls to amplify their voices and contribute to national development.
The grand finale of the pageant is expected to take place later this year, although the exact date is yet
to be announced.
