The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the deployment of additional troops to Plateau State to curb rising tension and strengthen ongoing security operations.
The move follows the escalating security situation in parts of the state, with the reinforcement aimed at supporting troops already on ground under Operation ENDURING PEACE to restore law and order.
In a statement released by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, CHINONSO POLYCARP OTEH, it reads: “The reinforcement is aimed at supporting troops already on ground in de-escalating tensions and restoring law and order across affected areas of the state.”
The COAS, while addressing troops at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE in Jos, charged them to remain professional, disciplined, and firm in dealing with criminal elements threatening peace and security.
He assured personnel that adequate logistics and combat enablers have been provided to ensure effective execution of their mission.
The newly deployed troops, numbering over 850, were drawn from formations in Abuja and Kaduna and have been tasked with protecting lives and property, as well as ensuring the safety of residents acros
