MALAWI: Immigration to Test New Passport Printers in Blantyre and Mzuzu

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services says it will conduct testing of its two newly procured heavy-duty passport printers within the next three days in Blantyre and Mzuzu.

However, speaking to Zodiak Online today, the department’s spokesperson, Pasqually Zulu, said he could not confirm exactly when passport printing will resume in the two cities.

“What Malawians should know is that these printers arrived in the country in late February this year, and the exact date for the resumption of passport printing will be announced after the testing process,” said Zulu.

Zulu added that each printer has the capacity to produce between 2,500 and 3,000 passport booklets per day once fully operational.
