Preparations for the 4th edition of the Mzuzu City Half Marathon, scheduled for March 28, 2026, are in full swing, with organizers expressing satisfaction with the progress made so far.
Co-chairperson of the organizing committee, Peter Mumba, said the team is pleased with how preparations are unfolding, highlighting strong participation levels ahead of the event.
He said that so far, over one hundred participants have registered for the 21-kilometre race, while more than 20 teams have signed up for the relay competition, with registration still ongoing.
Mumba has since urged all participants to report to Mzuzu Stadium on March 27, 2026, to collect their race bib numbers and attend a briefing on the route, noting that some changes have been made to the marathon course.
“In line with this year’s theme, ‘Ever Green in Motion,’ we will be planting trees near the new Mzuzu City Council offices on March 26, 2026, as part of efforts to make the city greener,” said Mumba.
Meanwhile, Mumba has called on government departments and various organizations to take part in the tree-planting exercise, adding that the activities will also include a health walk from the Mzuzu District Offices to To
yota Malawi.
