Kenya has officially flagged off the 74th edition of the Safari Rally in Naivasha, marking the sixth edition since the rally returned to the World Rally Championship calendar.
Speaking during the flag-off on behalf of President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki described the rally as a globally recognised event that showcases Kenya’s resilience, culture and tourism potential.
“The Safari Rally remains one of the toughest events in the WRC calendar and continues to position Kenya as a premier global motorsport destination,” said Kindiki.
The government has invested KSh400 million in event fees to the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, with additional support from corporate sponsors from the public and private sectors.
The rally was flagged off at the Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute, attracting thousands of motorsport enthusiasts and international drivers competing on Kenya’s challengin
g terrain.
