Nigeria Pledges To Host Historic World Public Relations Forum In 2026
By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
Minister of Information and National Orientation Alhaji Mohammed Idris has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s full commitment to delivering what he described as the biggest, brightest, and boldest edition of the World Public Relations Forum when Nigeria hosts the global event in November 2026.
Speaking at the 2025 End-of-Year Media Engagement held on Monday at the Banquet Hall of Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja, the Minister hailed Nigeria’s successful bid to host both the World Public Relations Forum organised by the Global Alliance and the African Public Relations Association Conference next year as a historic milestone.
He noted that this will mark the first time an African country simultaneously stages the two premier public relations gatherings, underscoring international confidence in Nigeria’s emerging role as a continental hub for responsible communication.
Idris highlighted the dual hosting rights as one of the administration’s major achievements in the information and communications sector for the outgoing year, pledging unwavering government support to ensure an unforgettable experience for delegates from around the world. He appealed to stakeholders, including media organisations, corporate entities, and professional bodies, to rally behind the national vision for the programme.
Present at the engagement alongside presidential advisers and heads of agencies under the ministry, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations President Dr. Ike Neliaku expressed satisfaction with the strong early interest shown by numerous countries, many of which have already registered participation.
Neliaku encouraged prospective attendees to take advantage of the early bird registration package expiring in January, while inviting national and international corporations to partner with the organisers for enhanced global visibility and branding opportunities.
The forthcoming forums are expected to draw thousands of public relations practitioners, policymakers, and communication experts to Abuja, positioning Nigeria prominently on the international stage for discourse on ethical practice, strategic communication, and industry innovation.
