Chief Justice Rezine Mzikamanda has hailed the launch of the 2025–2030 Malawi Judiciary Strategic Plan and Digitisation Strategy, describing it as a major step forward in improving access to justice in the country.
Speaking during the launch, Mzikamanda said the new reforms will transform how judicial services are delivered.
“This strategy is a milestone. It will help us clear chronic case backlogs, improve court connectivity, and enhance transparency in all judicial processes,” he said.

Chief Registrar Innocent Nebi supported the Chief Justice’s remarks, expressing confidence in the strategic direction being taken.
“We believe these documents will greatly improve access to justice in all courts across Malawi,” Nebi said.
The initiative has also gained the support of the European Union (EU), which has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the country’s justice system.
Team Leader for the EU’s Chilungamo II Programme, Marko Lehto, pledged continued cooperation with the judiciary.
“The EU remains committed to supporting Malawi as it modernises its justice sector,” Lehto said.
The unveiling of the 2025–2030 Strategic Plan and Digitisation Strategy marks a significant milestone as Malawi intensifies efforts to modernise its justice system and ensure fair, efficient, and timely justice for all.
