NIGERIA: Sanwo-Olu Highlights Four Years Of Zero Bank Robbery At Lagos Security Trust Fund Meeting
By Ameenat Hamzat, Lagos, Nigeria
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday said sustained collaboration between government, security agencies, businesses and residents has strengthened the state’s security architecture, delivering measurable results including four consecutive years without a single bank robbery.

Speaking at the 19th Annual Town Hall Meeting of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), the governor said the state’s progress is driven by partnership and public confidence in security institutions.
In his words:
“Security grows when people trust their institutions and work together. Government alone cannot carry this responsibility, the private sector, communities, and every resident play a vital role.”
Sanwo-Olu noted that investments made through the LSSTF have improved patrol operations, boosted surveillance capabilities, and enhanced cybersecurity infrastructure across Lagos.
He stated:
“The Trust Fund continues to stand out by uniting government, businesses, and citizens to deliver real impact, from improved patrol capacity to surveillance tools and strengthened cybersecurity.”
According to the governor, the impact of these measures is already evident.
“For four years, Lagos has recorded no bank robberies. Home invasions have been stopped, suspects arrested, and weapons recovered,” he said, adding that collaboration among security agencies and intelligence networks such as the Neighbourhood Safety Corps has been strengthened.
Sanwo-Olu also commended national efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing federal reforms as key to sustaining progress in the state.
He mentioned: “Our efforts complement national reforms led by His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose commitment to modernising security institutions supports our progress.”
Looking ahead, the governor reassured residents that Lagos will continue to invest in technology, coordination, and transparent security operations to prepare for emerging threats.
He appealed for continued citizen involvement, saying:
“I call on all stakeholders, businesses, community leaders, civil society, and every Lagosian to remain engaged and vigilant. The safety of our people is the foundation of our prosperity.”
