MALAWI: Mary Chilima Still Struggling To Understand Husband’s Death
By Smile Hamilton Malawi
Mary Chilima, the widow of the late former Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima, says she is still struggling to come to terms with the loss of her husband.

Chilima, together with eight other Malawians, died in a Malawi Defence Force Dornier 228 aircraft crash in Chikangawa Forest in Nkhata Bay as they travelled to attend the funeral of their friend, Ralph Kasambara.
Writing on her social media page, Mary reflected on the tragedy, saying that even after one year and six months, the pain remains deep and unresolved.
“One year, six months. We are still mourning Saulos… A painful death. A death that is difficult to understand,” she wrote.
The accident, which occurred as the team was en route to a burial ceremony, shocked the entire nation and left many questions about what went wrong with the military aircraft.
Last month, Minister of Justice Charles Mhango told Times that the government had completed reviewing all available reports concerning the investigations into the fatal crash.
Mhango said once the final review is concluded, the report will be handed over to the President along with recommendations on whether additional investigations should be pursued.
He added that the government remains committed to ensuring that Malawians know the truth about what led to the tragic accident that claimed the life of the former Vice President and eight others.
