The Seme Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday held a colourful send-forth ceremony to celebrate two senior officers, Deputy Comptroller Audu Edime, former head of the scanning unit, and Chief Superintendent of Customs Isah Sulaimon, the outgoing Public Relations Officer, for their outstanding contributions to the Command’s operations along the busy Lagos–Abidjan corridor.
The event, attended by officers from sister security agencies, freight forwarders, members of the border business community and traditional leaders, provided an opportunity for the Command to recognise dedication and professionalism.
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Wale Adenuga, praised the honourees as exemplary officers whose integrity and commitment had raised the bar for everyone at the border. He singled out CSC Sulaimon for his exceptional work ethic and strategic role in communicating every major achievement of the Command.
“Sulaimon’s excellent service as my spokesperson made my job smoother and more effective. Every milestone we announced was made possible in part by his diligence. I am not surprised he is being elevated today, and I look forward to maintaining our cordial relationship as he moves to the next phase of his career,” Adenuga told the gathering.
The Area Controller also highlighted the strong collaboration between Customs and other security agencies, describing the partnership as a united front that continues to create a conducive environment for legitimate trade at the Seme border.
In an emotional response, CSC Isah Sulaimon thanked Comptroller Adenuga for the supportive leadership that enabled him to perform at his best. “I was able to give my all because my CAC created an enabling environment. I remain grateful to the Nigeria Customs Service for the privilege to serve our country,” he said
Goodwill messages from sister agencies and stakeholders filled the occasion, with speakers commending the two officers for their professionalism and urging serving personnel to emulate their high ethical standards.
Comptroller Adenuga used the moment to charge officers still in active service to uphold integrity and dedication, stressing that exemplary conduct remains the surest path to recognition and career advancement in the Nigeria Customs Service.
