Troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have recorded major successes against crime in Kogi State, intercepting a vehicle loaded with 276 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa and separately rescuing six kidnapped victims within 24 hours.
In the first operation on Sunday, 1 December 2025, troops on patrol in the Agbede response area of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area stopped a red Toyota Camry (registration ABJ 325 LA) travelling from Ekiti State to Borno State.
The driver, Mr Hamisu Sule, attempted to escape after sighting the troops but was pursued and arrested along the Apata–Lokoja road. A search revealed 306 parcels of Cannabis Sativa weighing 276kg. The suspect and the seized substance have been handed over to the Kogi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
In a separate development, troops of 12 Brigade, supported by a Nigerian Police helicopter, rescued six kidnapped victims in the Ejiba and Saminaka forest axis spanning Yagba East and Yagba West Local Government Areas.
The victims, who had been released by their captors due to sustained military pressure, were intercepted by troops at Patrol Base Ejiba. Five have been reunited with their families in Egbe and Ejiba communities, while the sixth is receiving medical attention.
The Brigade reaffirmed its commitment to rid Kogi State of banditry, drug trafficking and all forms of criminality, urging residents to continue providing timely information to security agencies.
