NIGERIA: APC Lagos Blasts Atiku As “Godfather Of National Ruin,” Accuses Him Of Hypocrisy Over Insecurity And Hunger Claims
By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing him as the “Godfather of National Ruin” with no moral right to criticize the current administration over insecurity and hunger.
In a strongly worded press statement issued Saturday and signed by party spokesman Hon. Seye Oladejo, the APC dismissed Atiku’s recent claims that both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and APC are responsible for Nigeria’s economic woes and security challenges as “delusional” and “shameless.”
The party accused Atiku of personally overseeing the “infamous national assets auction” during the PDP era, where public wealth was allegedly sold off to cronies, leading to factory closures, job losses, and industrial collapse.
“This is the same Atiku who personally supervised the infamous national assets auction, where Nigeria’s collective wealth was sold to himself, his friends, and faceless cronies through a scandalous privatization bazaar. This is not just hypocrisy – it is legendary audacity,” the statement said.
The APC further blamed the PDP’s 16-year rule (1999–2015), during which Atiku served as Vice President, for laying the groundwork for today’s problems, including the rise of Boko Haram, rampant corruption, and squandered oil revenues.

“Atiku was not a spectator – he was the engine room,” Oladejo stated, adding that Atiku’s “political amnesia” insults Nigerians who remember the scandals, betrayals, and lack of development in his home state of Adamawa.
The party mocked Atiku’s repeated presidential bids and party-hopping, calling him a “wandering political relic” whose desperation for power threatens national stability.
It defended President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying it is “repairing the ruins” through reforms in security, economy, and institutions.
“He cannot destroy the house and now complain that the carpenters are sweating,” the statement quipped.
The APC urged Atiku, now in his 80s, to “bow out before history throws him out,” apologize for alleged “monumental economic and political crimes,” and make restitution.
The response comes amid ongoing political tensions, with Atiku frequently criticizing the Tinubu government on economic policies. Neither Atiku nor the PDP has immediately reacted to the APC’s statement.
