The newly appointed mayor of Juba City Council, Christopher Sarafino Wani Swaka, has pledged to transform the capital city, vowing to create a cleaner environment and rebuild trust among business owners towards the city council. During the oath-taking ceremony on Monday, Mayor Swaka announced his intention to introduce a comprehensive 100-day plan aimed at restoring public confidence, improving service delivery, and addressing persistent issues in Juba within the next two weeks.
“As a former businessman and a resident of this city, I understand the frustration that comes when city council officials arrive in uniforms, often met with skepticism due to a lack of trust,” Swaka stated. “However, I assure you that this administration is dedicated to changing that perception, ensuring that the citizens of Juba feel included and engaged with their council.”
Governor Emmanuel Rabi Mujung Emmanuel of Central Equatoria State extended his full support to the new mayor, emphasizing the importance of collaboration for success. “I want to assure you of my unwavering support because your success is my success. Together, we will find solutions to the challenges you are facing, enabling us to move forward as a united front,” Governor Mujung pledged.
He also highlighted the urgent need for infrastructure improvements, particularly noting that repairs and maintenance of roads are essential to enhance mobility and service delivery in The area.
